Security settings
Overview
Two-factor authentication (2FA) makes your account more secure by needing two ways to confirm who you are before you can log in. First, you enter your password. Then, you use a second method, like a code sent to your phone, to prove it's really you. This extra step helps keep your account safe, even if someone else knows your password.
It guards against phishing and unauthorized access, even if someone gets your password. It also helps you follow security rules and gives you peace of mind knowing your accounts are better protected.
Set up 2FA
To set up 2FA in your account, follow these steps:
-
Go to Account Settings
-
Click the Security tab
-
Click the "Turn on 2FA" button
-
If you are logged in with Google Auth, you will first be asked to create a password for your account
-
Download one of the three apps offered to connect your account to the 2FA code generation service by scanning a qr code. You can also enter the code manually if you are unable to scan a QR code
-
Enter the temporary 2FA code and password generated by the app to your account
-
After successfully adding 2FA to your account, you will be provided with a list of ten backup codes. Save them, as you will see them only once! Use the backup codes if you lose access to the app with the generic codes. Remember that you can use each backup code once (so you only have 10 attempts)!
-
You can generate a new list of backups if you need it by clicking the "Generate new" link and entering your account password
-
You can disable 2FA from your account by clicking the "Disable 2FA" button and entering your account password
