🧠Custom Instructions Overview
This feature helps to guide the AI behaviour and its responses depending on the context.
đź› Where to Set it Up
- Go to the AI & Automations page in Quidget.
- Scroll down to find the Custom Instructions section.
âś… What You Can Do With Custom Instructions
You can tell the bot to:
- Stay focused on your product or company
- Avoid guessing when it doesn’t know
- Pass tricky questions to your team
- Use a certain tone (friendly, professional, etc.)
- Handle serious topics with care
- Format replies in a clear way (like using bullet points)
A couple of examples:
- Give the bot an idea of what it is there for.
Possible prompt:
You are a bot for a SaaS product called Quidget. Please consider every user's questions to be related to Quidget.
- Avoid answering unrelated questions.
Possible prompt:
Do not answer questions that are not related to the information you have in your Knowledge Base.
- Instruct the bot on what to do in case it doesn't know the answer.
Possible prompt:
If you cannot find the answer to a user's question using the Knowledge Base or your system instructions, or if you are not 100% confident, do not attempt to answer.
Instead, respond with exactly this: failure
Do not explain. Do not make anything up. Do not try to be helpful. Do not apologize. Just return the word failure and nothing else.
🧩 Using Trigger Words Like failure in Your Custom Instructions
You can tell your AI assistant to say a specific word (called a trigger word) to start a certain flow in your setup.
For example, the word 'failure' is built into Quidget’s flows by default. When the assistant says failure, it usually sends the user to your support team flow. That flow might include things like offering live chat, showing a contact form, or sending an email.
But here’s the key:
You can create your own trigger words & link them to different flows—like booking a demo, sending a pricing form, or connecting to sales.
🔧 Example
Let’s say you want the bot to trigger a “request pricing” flow.
In your flow builder, set up a new flow & give it a trigger word—like pricinghelp.
In your Custom Instructions, write something like:
If the user asks about enterprise pricing, say: pricinghelp (This will trigger the enterprise pricing flow.)
⚠️ Important
Before using any trigger word in your instructions, make sure:
- You’ve set up the correct flow under Flows
- The trigger word exactly matches what’s in that flow
- You’ve tested the flow to see if it works as expected
